A Brief Introduction to
Academia-Industry Consortium for Southern Taiwan Science Park
The Academia-Industry Consortium for Southern Taiwan Science Park (AIC), composed of 28 colleges and universities in southern Taiwan, and 43 enterprises and research institutes around the Southern Taiwan Science Park, was founded on September 13, 2001 with the aim of enabling Southern Taiwan Science Park to perform its multiple functions in connecting and integrating resources for high-tech research projects. Professor Su Fong-Chin, Vice President of National Cheng Kung University currently serves as its incumbent chairman (the tenth) of the board of directors.
The AIC is not only important for constructing a research environment at Southern Taiwan Science Park but also a solid foundation for the Science Park to develop humanities, technology and ecology in Southern Taiwan. The AIC provides enterprise training package, e-learning platform, holding matchmaking events, holding forums for enterprises in the Southern Taiwan Science Park. Thus the AIC enables Southern Taiwan Science Park to lead Taiwan technologies to a success in the world.
The major missions of the AIC include:
1. Integrating colleges, universities and research institutes with enterprises in the Southern Taiwan Science Park to develop high-
quality products and living.
2. Promoting the exchange of technologies and talents among colleges, universities, research institutes, and enterprises in the
Southern Taiwan Science Park.
3. Assisting enterprises in the Science Park in planning, business development, promoting research projects, and cultivating needed
researchers and professionals.
4. Creating a favorable environment at the Science Park in association with national class laboratories and research centers.
The AIC includes 7 committees: IOT Promotion Committee, Green Energy Promotion Committee, Biotechnology Promotion Committee, Smart Machinery Promotion Committee, Aerospace and Defense Promotion Committee, New Agriculture Promotion Committee, Circular Economy Promotion Committee. Each committee operates to promote the exchange of technologies and talents between academia and industry in its individual field.
